Is this the education our children deserve?

Hitler Youth

Lying to children in an educational environment to push a political agenda has been done throughout history, but that is not the America we purport to live in. Here are excerpts from an assignment at the Northeast Middle School given to an 8th grade class.

“The courts have consistently determined that the Second Amendment does not ensure each individual the right to bear arms.”

Actually, that is wholly untrue. DC Vs. Heller, specifically and repeatedly incorporates the right of individuals to keep and bear arms. It does go on to state that the right has reasonable limits, but it is crystal clear that federal districts do not have the right to excessively restrict gun ownership because it is an individual right of the citizens.

If the teacher missed that landmark case, perhaps she should have looked at McDonald Vs. Chicago, which expanded the Heller case to the states finding that … Read more »

Firearms Training in the NYPD

NYPD killed an innocent citizen – again…

noel-polancoPerhaps its time to consider looking into the training and qualification standards? I am not one to say it was avoidable, but this is a trend that seems to be popping up in New York and it would appear they don’t see a connection between training and Accuracy.

“There is a danger if you get so into firearms and tactics, it could become a different department and that could be a bad thing,” O’Donnell cautioned. “Do you really want to turn a department into a place where you make shooting a big issue and turn them into Marine snipers?” – Eugene O’Donnell, Former NYC police officer.

We don’t need to turn them into Marine Snipers, but if they are going to carry a firearm, we do need them to be able to hit what they aim at under stress. That would take the … Read more »

US-VOTE-2012-DEBATE

Romney – Enforce existing laws; change the “culture of violence” – and then talked about the two parent family. Biggest failure of gun control is “fast & furious under this administration” – and went on to talk about the two-parent family.  He stated that the weapons restrictions that he enacted as governor are examples of bringing both sides of the issue together – closed with another rendition of the two parent family…

MA is one of the most restrictive states in the country… and a huge bone of contention with the pro gun activists. Fast and furious is an irresponsible but irrelevant drop in the bucket when dealing with the real issues that cause violence.

Last night during the debate, Obama restated his support for existing laws, that “weapons that were designed for soldiers don’t belong on our streets”  and reemphasized his desire to reintroduce an “assault weapons” ban. He … Read more »

The Obama Administration and Assault Weapons

Obama AWThe issue with the administration’s stated position on gun control is heavily influenced by how an assault weapon is defined.

“We can focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system, and we can work together to enact common-sense improvements – like reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole – so that guns do not fall into the hands of those irresponsible, law-breaking few.” – Barack Obama, 7 Sept, 2012.

The statement probably sounds reasonable to some of the population, and many of the statements, viewed individually, can represent common-sense (Background checks, loopholes, work together, keep guns out of the hands of irresponsible law breakers, etc.) The real issue, however, lies in the definition of of an “assault weapon.”

The California legislature provides a prime example of misconstruing terminology in order to push an agenda by misleading the populace. In order to … Read more »
